If you think you’re saving some trees by using plastic instead of paper think again. The U.S. Lumber industry has been managing its forest lands in a sustainable way for quite some time now (I’m read that it’s more than a half of a century!)
Considering that plastic doesn’t break down whereby wood and paper products do, It just makes sense to abandon the ideas all laid in during the 80’s when we were asked the usual question at the grocery store, “paper or plastic?”.
Really, I don’t like the idea of tons of plastic products swimming around in the ocean. It’s just not good for the environment and not at all an ethical thing to partake in. I’ve even seen a few really simple and amazing bright ideas popping up on youtube.com on how to turn your ordinary paper trash into bricks for fuel to heat your home. I don’t think we’re saving a few trees by choosing plastic. In the long run, we’re hurting the environment even more with all the dumping!
